After enduring a brutal act of violence, Cristine, a devout young woman from the countryside of Minas Gerais, finds herself forced to give up her lifelong dream of becoming a psychologist. She moves to the state capital, where she lives burdened by a painful secret.

After facing many trials, Cristine returns to her hometown, where she descends into profound suffering and becomes gravely ill. Meanwhile, her daughter, Maria Clara, who was left years earlier on the doorstep of a convent, grows increasingly curious about her origins. She turns to her godmother, Dulce, who encourages her to write letters to God in the hope that, one day, the truth about her life will be revealed. And so, for fifteen consecutive years, Maria Clara sends her letters to the Eternal, until the story begins to unfold in a truly astonishing way.
